“Massk” is a music album cover that touches on songs about identity and self-expression. It uses bold colors and it shows someone hiding behind their hands. The person’s face is painted with vibrant colors, implying this is the invisible mask. The word “MASSK” is bolded and has a 3D shadow effect reflecting depth and making it pop out from the background. The color palette is bright and energetic, which is also shown in the face painting. With this piece, I wanted to show that people can hide their real selves as if wearing an invisible mask. The bright colors represent the different emotions of a person such as happiness (commonly represented by yellow) or sadness (commonly represented by blue). Even though these are really emotions that are reflected by facial expressions, the person in the picture is more neutral, meaning the person is hiding behind the mask. The innovative word “MASSK” with the double “S” is intentional, as each “S” represents each hand hiding the person’s face.
